Join us for a four-day bioenergy delegation to Ukraine
June 15–18, 2026 | Lviv – Ternopil – Teofipol – Volochynsk
In June 2026, Danish Energy Export, in close cooperation with the Embassy of Denmark in Kyiv, will lead a high-level business delegation to Western Ukraine focused on bioenergy, biomethane and decentralised energy solutions.
The delegation is designed to give Danish companies direct, structured access to Ukrainian decision-makers, municipalities, project developers and agri-industrial actors at a time where Ukraine’s need for secure, decentralised and sustainable energy solutions is both urgent and growing.
Why Ukraine – and why bioenergy?
Ukraine is one of Europe’s most promising growth markets for biogas and biomethane. With a strong agricultural base, large volumes of organic residues and a clear political ambition to integrate more closely with the EU energy system, bioenergy plays a central role in strengthening energy security and supporting long-term reconstruction.
Recent regulatory developments now allow biomethane exports to the EU, and bioenergy has become a formal pillar of the Danish–Ukrainian energy cooperation. Danish companies are already recognised for their expertise in biogas upgrading, plant design, operations and integrated energy systems — making Danish solutions highly relevant to Ukrainian needs.
This delegation offers a rare opportunity to move beyond desk research and into direct dialogue with the actors shaping projects, investments and policy on the ground.
What participants gain
The delegation combines strategic market insight with concrete business interaction and project exposure. Participants will gain:
-
First-hand insight into market frameworks, regulation and current developments within biogas and biomethane in Ukraine
-
Direct dialogue with Ukrainian municipalities, authorities, utilities and project developers
-
B2B meetings and structured networking with relevant local stakeholders
-
Site visits to operational biogas plants, providing insight into feedstock, operations and investment models
-
Access facilitated by the Danish Embassy, ensuring relevance, credibility and efficient matchmaking
-
Peer sparring with other Danish companies active in or exploring the Ukrainian market
The delegation is relevant both for companies looking to enter the market and for those already active in Ukraine seeking to expand their engagement.
Programme highlights
The four-day programme starts and concludes in Rzeszów, Poland, with the delegation based in Lviv and programme activities in Ternopil, Teofipol and Volochynsk.
Key elements include:
-
A full-day conference in Lviv with Ukrainian stakeholders from energy, agriculture and local authorities
-
Meetings with municipal decision-makers on decentral energy solutions
-
Site visits to biogas plants, including VitAgro’s facilities, focusing on real-world operations and investment cases
-
Continuous networking and dialogue throughout the programme
The programme will be finalised in close dialogue with the Embassy and local partners and adapted to the security situation and participating company profiles.

- 10.30-12.00 Meeting with Ternopil City Council
The bioenergy sector in Ternopil and the surrounding region is actively developing, with a focus on processing agro-industrial waste and transforming the area into an “energy hub”. Ternopil doesn’t have CHP, therefore bioenergy projects nowadays are very demanded there. Strategies have been developed for the development of bioenergy from horticultural and agricultural waste, and investments are being made in biogas projects.
- 12.00-13.00 Lunch in Ternopil
- 13.00-14.30 Transfer to the biogas plant
- 14.30-16.00 Visit to Vitagro biogas plant (Dobrohorshcha) and meeting with Deputy Mayor of Khmelnytskyi city
The biomethane plant operated by Vitagro Energy is located in the Khmelnytskyi region. It has an annual capacity of 3 million cubic meters and is connected to the medium-pressure gas network. Notably, it is the first plant in Ukraine to supply biomethane to the gas transmission system and for export.
- 16.00-20.00 Transfer to Lviv
- 20.30-22.00 Dinner for the delegation (or free time)
June 18, Thursday

Practical travel setup
For security and logistical reasons, the delegation will start and conclude in Rzeszów, Poland. From here, participants will travel together by shared bus transport across the border to and from Lviv, Ukraine.
This coordinated setup ensures a smooth and efficient border crossing, shared arrival and departure times, and a safe, well-managed entry to Ukraine for the full delegation.
A structured and secure market entry
Operating in Ukraine requires local insight, trusted access and careful planning. Through close cooperation with the Danish Embassy, this delegation provides a safe, professional and well-structured framework — lowering entry barriers and enabling Danish companies to focus on business opportunities rather than logistics and complexity.
The delegation is a concrete step towards building long-term partnerships and positioning Danish bioenergy solutions as part of Ukraine’s green reconstruction and future energy system.
